Prentice Ave. Commercial Structure Fire
12/06/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
Just after 6:45 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021, South Metro received a call for a reported fire at an office unit on E. Prentice Ave. in Greenwood Village. Greenwood Village Police and another 911 caller also reported heavy smoke coming from the scene. When Local members arrived, they found a working fire in the Deer Run Dentistry office with fire extension into the attic space.

With great sadness, the Cape Girardeau Fire Department and IAFF Local 1084 announce the death of our friend and family member, Captain Ivan LaGrand. Ivan passed Wednesday evening, December 1, 2021, after a brief battle with COVID-19.   Ivan has served our community since August 1996, and was looking forward to retirement in about a year.

Just before 6 p.m. on Sunday November, 28th, Local members responded to a house fire on Birch Avenue in Unincorporated Douglas County. Members from first arriving Engine 44 observed smoke coming from the structure and confirmed with the homeowner that all occupants were outside and safe.

Garner Memorial Scholarship

The Richard Garner Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the life of City of Madison Firefighter/Paramedic Richard Garner Jr. who died in the line of duty on April 1, 2018. Richard was not only a great Firefighter/Paramedic and a dear friend to many, but he was a constant fixture within the Madison community, helping and serving in any way he could. The scholarship was put in place to help those who are entering the Fire and EMS fields.

The Elections Committee met today and counted the ballots that were submitted via US Mail.  The results are as follows: At-Large: President of Local 42: Dan Heitzman won with 80% of the votes. Liberty Bargaining Unit: Luke Pierce won with 72% of the votes.

November 16th marks the 1 year anniversary of the passing of our friend and colleague, Dale Mosby.  To mark the occasion, the Rancho Santa Fe Firefighters kicked off the 1st Annual Mosby Memorial Golf Tournament at the Del Mar Country Club.  Nearly half of the Local 4349 members showed up to play golf and pay respect to a great man.

Passing of Fire Inspector Frank Butler's Father-In-Law. Please keep Frank and his family in your thoughts & prayers. Obituary Edmund Beekman, 71, of Union Beach, passed away Friday, November 5th. Edmund was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Daniel and Mabel (Nelson) Beekman. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea.
